FIRST DAY RELEASE - BEALE ST TO BEATLES... AND BACK AGAIN ( 44 inches x 15 inches )

This painting is displayed on Mathew Street, in Liverpool England, between the Cavern Club and The Hard Day's Night Hotel. This art project will be a permanent fixture in Liverpool and was unveiled by Liverpool's Mayor, Julia Baird (John Lennon's sister), and the artist Shannon, during the 2024 international Beatleweek celebration.
"Proudly, my painting joins hands in a "forever-friendship" with Liverpool, England on one side, and Memphis, USA on the other. Memphis, a wonderful place that, if not for their tremors of sound that skimmed an ocean, Liverpool may never have been added to the "Rock & Roll Map". I'm speaking of the musical influence, that Elvis Presley passed-on with the deep-rooted "Beale Street Sound" that made him shake his hips uncontrollably. In turn, Elvis' gyrating impacted the lives of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Richard Starkey. As John Lennon remarked, "without Elvis there would be no Beatles". Passing the baton, the Fab Four then continued to influence the whole world.
My creation, within the layers and layers of paint, shows the many facets and roots of The Blues, Jazz, Rockabilly, Country, Skiffle, and finally... Rock & Roll. We see a very young seedling, which the great Little Richard birthed; the fire storm that Jerry Lee Lewis lit; the blueberry hills of Fats Domino; the rings of fire burning inside Johnny Cash; and the thrill that was the amazing BB King.
The Mersey Sound will echo a lifetime throughout England's greatest halls. Through their lyrics we are reminded... We'll never walk alone, champagne tastes like Coca-Cola, and finally... We can't get no satisfaction. From the streets of Beale and Mathew, and over the oceans that separate them, both sounds have joined in musical matrimony uniting the gates of Graceland and Strawberry Fields Forever." _ SHANNON
